Few things are as beautiful as a child’s anticipation on Christmas morning. I recall running down the stairs as soon as I awoke and shaking my parents awake, asking them if we could open our gifts from Santa. Despite the fact that the gifts were always different from year to year, the traditions never changed. One of the best Christmas traditions was always the sweets and baked goods I would come across in my stocking and in the kitchen, which was toasty and pleasant from all the baking. With such a big array of cookies, chocolates, and peppermint candies, I could give myself a belly ache by noon! Christmas was the only day when I was permitted to eat whatever I wanted all day long. Think of the children you love and what Christmas means to them. Whether you have tender memories of singing Christmas carols with your nieces and nephews on the way home from church on Christmas eve, or joyfully remember sneaking around and playing Santa Clause to bring that mystical twinkle to your own children’s eyes, there are many simple things you can do to create those holiday memories that a child will look back on so fondly for years to come. Mother’s Day as we know it is a pretty recent holiday, though it is not really a “Hallmark holiday” developed to sell more cards. There are a number of Mothering day or Mom-focused holidays in history like Mothering Day in the UK, Cybele in ancient Greece, or Mothering Sunday in much of Europe. Mother’s Day was invented by Anna Jarvis in 1912. Mother’s day was distinctively chosen to be a singular possessive meaning it was proposed for each family to celebrate their mother, not plural possessive that would be used to respect all the mothers of the world. Following congressional approval, It was officially identified on May 9, 1914 when president Woodrow Wilson made the official announcement proclaiming Mother’s day as a national holiday to be observed on the 2nd Sunday of May. Mother’s Day has eventually been adopted by many other countries and cultures. In many cases, the date was changed to fit established celebrations or to correspond with a significant date in which the majority are based on religion. Because of this, Mother’s Day is celebrated in February in Norway and on December 22nd in Indonesia, with many other dates in between celebrated by other people. One of the practices of Mother’s Day is to give your mother a present along with positive wishes as a way to honor her. If you live near by (and are seeing your mom regularly!) you most likely have a good idea what to buy her. Then again, those of us that don’t live in the area can be at a entire loss. Consider the things Mom likes a perhaps send her a gift with that concept. Gift baskets are great when it comes to gifts with a theme. If your mom loves golf there are golf themed gift baskets. Perhaps she is into tea and relaxation then buy a nice tea baskets or a relaxing spa basket. Maybe she loves fine wine and you know she appreciates red wine or white wine or even champagne. There are many great wine gift baskets to pick from that showcase wine which would make a ideal mothers day basket. There's Nothing Like A Good Old Fashioned Thanks
It's as though the art of giving thanks has been lost over time. Posting a personalized thank you note was at one time habitual for both professional and personal occasions, but now most people presume it's enough to offhandedly send an email with a quick "thanks" before returning to their active day to day lives. Now don't get me wrong. I know that the world is more fast paced than it was at one time and many people scarcely have time to rest and catch a break, but thinking about it, that only gives you all the more reason to send a heart felt thank you. Considering we've become less accustomed to receiving a formal thank you, it makes a much greater impression when we do receive one. It honestly is a nice surprise to see someone took the time to say "thanks." I haven’t even mentioned the influence it can have on your business. By taking a moment to send a personalized thank you, you can express to your customer how significant their business is to you. By building personal relationships with your clients, you are ensuring their confidence and giving them a reason to conduct business with you instead of your competitors. If I haven't managed to convinced you that sending a thank you gift or note is worth the effort, why not contemplate sending something that takes very little time at all? Sending flowers or a gift basket from an online website takes about as long as sending an email, but sends a much better impression.
